Towers Perrin Survey Finds Dramatic Increase In
Companies Utilizing The Web For HR Transactions
September 11, 2000
In a new survey of HR executives in 92, mostly Fortune 500, companies, Towers Perrin found a dramatic increase in the number of
companies using the Web in HR service delivery. In 1999, only 10 percent of respondents provided annual benefit enrollment on the Web.
This year that number was 39 percent. The number of companies allowing employees to track their 401(k) plans and make changes online
also jumped substantially, from 12 percent in 1999 to 35 percent in 2000. In addition, 32 percent of the companies used the Web for
personal data changes and 19 percent for new hire benefit enrollment. "We also found that aggressive plans are in place for extending HR
Web transactions in 2001," said Joe Bender, a Towers Perrin expert of HR service centers. Among the transactions forecast for next year
were family status changes, new hire benefit enrollment and employment events.
